People practice palmistry (also known as chiromancy) believe you can better understand yourself through the study of your hands. The lines in your palm can help you discover your strengths, weaknesses, talents, and even learn about your career, monetary situation, or relationships.

There is no requirement to possess any psychic abilities in order to read palms. A good reference book, a sound sense of observation, and an open mind are all you need.

The lines in your hands are constantly changing, reflecting every major decision and important events affecting your life. You can prove this fact by photocopying your hands and comparing the copy to your hands a year from now.

Even though reading your palm will not give you the name of your future husband, it can nonetheless help you understand who you are. Furthermore, by carefully studying your hands, you can find out what you need to achieve in order to direct your life towards what you really want to accomplish.

Your active hand, also called dominant hand, is the one you use to write. It reveals who you are and what you are doing with your life. Your passive hand, or inactive hand, gives you details about your unconscious self, who you are meant to be, and your family history.

Every feature on the hands can be used to learn more about yourself — the overall shape, length, and width of fingers, space between fingers, and most importantly the lines on your palm. There are three major lines: the head line, the life line, and the heart line.

The heart line starts at the percussion of the hand, under the pinkie. It is the uppermost major line on your hand. Depending on its ending, depth, width, curve, and clarity, you can determine what type of person you love and the way you demonstrate your love. For example, a very deep, long, chained love line that ends under the index finger indicates someone with a generous heart who cannot maintain a long-lasting relationship, perhaps from poor judgment in selecting his or her partner. A short, straight line that ends under the middle finger can indicate that you value love and romance but feel that intimacy is possible without love.

The head line starts on the opposite side, above the thumb, and runs under the heart line. It describes your capacity for details, imagination, and practicality as well as how much your family influenced your thinking. For example, a long head line indicates attention to details. In extreme cases, a line that reaches the percussion of the hand indicates someone so fond of details that they might suffer from insomnia. Another point to notice on the head line is its beginning. If it’s combined with the life line, it indicates that your family influenced your way of thinking up to the point where the two lines branch off.

The life line starts above the thumb and his curved downwards towards your wrist. Contrary to popular belief, a short life line does not mean a short life. It simply means that your life has not been totally “planned” yet. The depth of your life line indicates how much you occupy your life and how intensively you live your life. Abrupt changes in the curve of your life line indicate an unexpected or very marked alteration in your life. Furthermore, a life line curving away from your thumb (as opposed to hugging the thumb) indicates a desire to go see the world.

What else can palmistry reveal? Some have used it to predict whether they’d win the lottery, how many serious relationships they’d have, how many children they’d bear, and their specific talents.

So if you want to learn more about yourself, give it a try. Whether or not you believe in palmistry, it can be a very entertaining experience. And remember, the answers to your questions could be right in the palms of your hands.
